Princes Trust

It’s been just over 3 years since I left my career in I.T to become a Stay at Home Mum and it was truly the best decision I made for my family.

It has far from been easy as I live a 2 hours drive from my family, have no support where we live and my husband at the time worked long hours being out of the house for 12 hours during the week and often working from home during the weekend so to compensate for my loss of financial contributions.

At first I thought when the children were old enough to start school I would be able to go back into work but it began to dawn on me that working hours and school hours don’t exactly match up and the whole breakfast and afterschool club thing is not a road I want to go down.

I also can not after 3 years of not being employed step back into my old career and would have to start at the bottom of the lader again, and now with a family I can not do 12 hour days.

This is a main reason for me venturing into self-employment and with an obvious dip in my confidence regarding the working world, I approached the Princes Trust at the begging of this year wondering if I would be eligible for support.

Wonderfully I was accepted and completed the Princes Trust Business Training Plan in January and am now on my way for applying for a grant to help me start-up my Jewellery Business.

I am currently working on a Business Plan with my Princes Trust mentor which will give me and the Princes Trust an insight into where I want to take my business.

To be honest if it hadn’t been for the Princes Trust I don’t think I would have had the self-confidence to begin my business, it’s been such a long time since I used my brain for anything other than working on baby routines and meal planning that I just felt frustrated and annoyed at myself for not doing something more with my life.

The Princes Trust has helped me to rediscover my self belief that my dreams are within reach.
