New Running Shoes & Shin Splints

I christened my first pair of running shoes today this is a picture of them all shiny and new before my Park Run this morning:


And here’s a picture of them after:


Nice to run in, I had no calve or ankle pain now.

However to go along with my new running shoes I have shin splints and have been advised to take a couple of weeks off running.

    What?? O no, that’s fast (re: shin splits!) and not at all great. How come?? Make sure to keep icing your shins to speed recovery. 😦

    I’ve noticed a bit of pain a few weeks ago but I didn’t realise what it was and kept on running,and when I was getting fitted for a proper pair of running shoes when I described to the assistant the pain he said it sounds like shin spit and after my run yesturday my shins are on fire, especially up and down the stairs.
    So am resting for a while.
    Think it may have been down to the shoes I was running in, I was using a pair of Nike ordinary trainers.
    Oh well, live and learn. Proper Running shoes for me from now on.
    And I dont have a freezer at home so no ice 😦

    Hope you recover soon, not good being in pain and also being told not to run for a while 😦

      Thank you, am getting better (I think) but still feel a bit of pain in my right leg so more healing time me thinks
